The wild world of La Palma's northwest coast begins north of Puerto de Tazacorte and the viewpoint "El Time".
In the coastal region, terraced fields and pretty places look like a single well-kept garden with almond and eastern trees, exotic succulents, bougainvilleas, and other ravishingly blooming shrubs and flowers. Right up to the spicy pine forests, the highlands appear around Tijarafe and Puntagorda like a flowering garden of Eden, which also many emigrated organic farmers have cultivated.
The coastal rocks below are steep, wild and rugged. The further the panoramic road leads into the north, the more remote the places become - and the more insurmountable the wild barrancos (gorges) that separate them from each other.
