General

Which travel services can I book with Elke Janke Reisen?

As your La Palma specialist we offer you the following for your La Palma trip:

How can I book with Elke Janke Reisen?

You can book online via our website, by e-mail or fax, by phone with personal advice or directly at our office.

How will my personal data be handled?

Of course, we only use your data to process your order and do not pass it on to third parties. You will find more detailed information on this in our privacy statement.

What does the option "Reserve" mean?

After you have received a booking confirmation from us, we grant you a free right of withdrawal for a defined period of time. This period usualy lasts a few hours (day option) and can last up to several days depending on your travel date. You can withdraw from the reservation free of charge within this period. The usual period is two days. If you do not make use of your free right of withdrawal, we will send you the invoice at the end of this period.

What is a reservation?

We understand the term "reservation" as the term "booking".

What is a booking?

A booking is a binding travel contract. It comes about when the binding travel booking is confirmed by us in writing. After the expiration of the free right of withdrawal, it can be canceled for a fee (see Terms and Conditions).

What is an advance booking?

Advance bookings are intended for long-term planning. You have the option of reserving a holiday home for a period in the future in which a flight plan does not yet exist and flights cannot, therefore, be booked.

What is a cancellation?

A cancellation is a withdrawal from a booked trip, which is usually subject to a charge. The costs are listed in our terms and conditions. For flights, the cancellation conditions of the respective airline or organizer apply.

How can I insure myself against possible cancellation costs?

We strongly recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance, which covers all or part of the cancellation costs (usually 80%), depending on the tariff, in the event of cancellation due to illness or other insured reasons.

Booking process

What happens when I have booked?

After we have received your booking request, we usually first obtain confirmation from the respective owner or responsible administrator in order to avoid double occupancy. As soon as this is available, you will receive the booking confirmation from us. After the free right of withdrawal has expired, we will send you the invoice by e-mail or, if you wish, by post.

When do I have to pay a deposit?

The down payment is due immediately after the invoice has been received. For short-term bookings (about 4 weeks before departure) the deposit is not required and the total amount must be paid immediately.

When is the remaining payment due?

The balance is due three weeks before departure.

When do I receive my travel documents?

After we receive the final payment we will email you the travel documents. Usually, this happens two to three weeks before the start of the trip.

Usually, you will first drive to the administrator's office or an easy to find meeting point will be arranged. You will be met by the administrator and then be taken to your booked accommodation.

Accommodation

Are there bed linen and towels in the house?

Yes, in principle the houses and apartments are equipped with bed linen and sufficient towels. You must bring your own beach towels, as the towels provided may not be taken to the beach.

Is there heating for the cooler days?

All houses and apartments that are not directly by the sea are at least equipped with a mobile gas stove or electric radiator. The costs for the use of these are included in the rental price, except for a few exceptions marked in the description of the house.

Must I bring small things like spices, dishwasher detergents, toilet paper?

Normally you will find salt, spices, dishwasher detergent, a first roll of toilet paper etc. in every house. However, these things are not part of the basic equipment. However, in supermarkets, you can easily find anything you might be missing.

Can I use my own electrical appliances?

The voltage is 220 volts as in most European countries. A universal adapter is recommended. which is available in most houses or can be bought for a few cents in hardware stores (Ferreteria).

Can swimming pools be used all year round?

All pools are maintained all year round and are usually usable. The water temperature depends on the weather. Some pools have additional solar heating, and in some exceptions, there is active heating or a glass covering. Both solar heating and active heating do not guarantee pleasant bathing temperatures in cold winter weather on La Palma.

Can I take my pet with me?

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to bring your pet with you.

Is the rental period bound to certain arrival days?

The journey is essentially limited only by the flight possibilities. The airline usually only flies on one weekday per departure airport. Arriving with Iberia or with the ferry from Tenerife is more flexible, but usually more complicated as well. Further information can be found here.

Is there a minimum rental period?

If a minimum rental period has been set, you will find it on the details page of the accommodation in question. However, a rental period of less than 7 days is in most cases only accepted if it follows on from existing bookings or if it is included in correspondingly short rental gaps.

Other

How far is it to the beach?

You can reach the beach of Puerto Naos or Puerto de Tazacorte in 10 - 20 minutes by car from all holiday accommodations in the Aridane valley. You can find distance information in the detailed descriptions of the holiday accommodations.

Where can I find restaurants and shops?

Restaurants are numerous and scattered all over the Aridane Valley. Los Llanos, El Paso, and Puerto Naos are ideal for shopping. Small "Supermercados" can be found in every village.

Do I really need a rental car on La Palma?

A rental car is not absolutely necessary in La Palma. Many bus lines connect the villages, but many excursion destinations and most holiday accommodations are relatively far away from the bus stops. We, therefore, recommend reserving a rental car, so that you don't lose too much of your holiday time waiting for buses.

What about medical care in La Palma?

The medical care is quite good. There are German doctors and dentists on the island. The addresses and telephone numbers can be found in the information booklets available in many places on La Palma.

The climate on La Palma is quite balanced and pleasant, not too hot in summer and not too cold in winter, with a few exceptions. From sea level, it decreases by about 0.8°C per 100 m.
